Community guidelines
Board Room is a professional space for directors and the people who work with boards. These rules apply to everything members share there: posts, comments, resources and profiles. Last updated October 5, 2026.
Be professional
- Disagree with ideas, not people. Keep criticism specific and civil.
- Use your real name and represent your experience accurately.
- Respect confidentiality. Don't share material non-public information, board papers or anything you're bound to keep private.
Not allowed
- Harassment or bullying, including targeting, intimidating or repeatedly contacting someone who has not welcomed it.
- Hate speech: attacks on people for race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics.
- Threats or encouragement of violence, and content that glorifies harm.
- Sexual or explicit content.
- Spam and scams: unsolicited promotion, repeated posts, misleading links, or schemes to collect money or personal data.
- Deliberately false or misleading information, including fabricated claims about companies or people.
- Impersonation of another person or organisation.
- Illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights, such as copyright or privacy.
Reporting content
Every post, comment, resource and member profile has a menu (⋯) with Report. Choose a reason and add a note if it helps. Reports are private: the member isn't told who reported them. Once you report something it disappears from your view straight away.
Our team is notified of every report and reviews it within 24 hours. Content that several members report is hidden from everyone while it waits for review.
Blocking members
The same menu has Block. When you block someone, neither of you sees the other's posts, comments, resources or profile in Board Room, any connection between you is removed, and neither of you can send the other a connection request. They aren't notified. You can unblock people from Settings → Blocked members on the web, or Settings → Blocked members in the app.
What we do
When content breaks these rules we remove it. Members who break them seriously or repeatedly may have their account suspended. If a report doesn't break the rules, we leave the content up.
